    배 영서 박사

    President/Executive Director

    CIDA의 설립자 배 영서 박사는 두 아들의 엄마입니다. 첫째 아들 유진이가 자폐스펙트럼 장애를 진단받은 때부터더 보기

    지금까지, 배영서 박사는 장애인과 그 가족들을 위해 모든 것을 쏟아붓고 있습니다. 배 박사는 미국 컬럼비아 대학 (Teachers College at Columbia Univ.)에서 특수교육으로 박사학위 (Ph.D.)를 받았고, 뉴욕대학교 (NYU)에서 경영교육 석사 (MA)를 취득했습니다. 한미정신건강협회 (KABHA)의 전 회장을 역임했으며, 컬럼비아 대학Teachers College 에서 가르쳤습니다. 배 박사는 미국 최초로 뉴욕주 발달장애 계획위원회 (NYS DDPC)의 재정지원을 받는, 재미 한국인 (Korean-American) 장애인 가족을 위한 부모교육 프로그램을 시작하였습니다.

    허 준범

    Program Coordinator

    허 준범 프로그램 어시스턴트는 헌터 칼리지를 심리학전공으로 졸업했습니다. 그의 꿈은 장래 심리학계에서 더 보기

    일하는 것이며, CIDA에서의 경험이 좋은 배움의 기회가 되길 기대하고 있습니다. 데이타 관리에 경험이 많으며, CIDA를 통해 자신이 지역사회에 긍정적인 변화를 유도하기를 원하고 있습니다. 허 준범 프로그램 어시스턴트의 취미는 여행과 음식만들기, 그리고 푸드 블로그를 경영하는 것입니다.

    김 미정

    Field Associate

    김 미정 담당자는 경도 장애를 가진 Willfree 의 엄마이며, 뉴욕 장애인 가족연대 (KAAFaD)에서 방과후 프로그램 개발 더 보기

    (예를들면, 장애 아동을 위한 무료 태권도 레슨)과 지역사회에 필요한 프로그램을 제공하는데 핵심적인 역할을 담당해 왔습니다. CIDA에 합류하기 전에는, New York Korea Times와 Family Day Care에서 다년간 일한 경력이 있으며, 현재는 뉴욕 퀸즈 지역에 있는 장애인 가족들의 참여를 담당하고 있습니다.

    허 유진

    Development Associate

    허유진씨는 아들 쌍둥이를 키우며 롱아이랜드에 살고 있습니다.  CIDA에 팀원에 되기 전 아동/가족 엔터테인먼트 업계에서 더 보기

    일하면서 교육에 대한 관심을 키우게 되었고, 최근 전문 분야를 특수 교육으로 전환 하게 되었습니다.허유진 씨는 조지워싱턴 대학에서 경영학사, 존스 홉킨스 대학원에서 커뮤니케이션 석사를 받았으며, 현재 세인존스대학 교육대학원 특수교육 석사 과정 수료중에 계십니다. 

    박 해와

    Intake Specialist

    박해와 (Intake Specialist) 담당자는 남편과 두아이와 함께 퀸즈에 살고 있습니다. 2018년 둘째 아이가 자폐진단을 받은 후, 더 보기

    CIDA 의 학부모 모임등에 참여하여, 학부모 리더로서 활발히 활동하였습니다. 해와선생님은 한국에서 판화를 전공하였고, 뉴욕의 퀸즈칼리지에서는 예술사 전공을 마쳤습니다. 해와선생님은 2019년 CIDA의 VAP(Volunteer Advocacy Project) 를 통해, 특수교육전반과 IEP 미팅참여하는 훈련를 받았습니다.  또한 선생님은 현재, 포담대학교의 사회복지학과 대학원에서 사회복지사 자격을 위해 공부하고 있습니다.

    Wendy Xia

    Intake Specialist

    웬디 선생님은 북방어인 만다린어를 유창하게 구사하시는 중국계 미국인으로, 퀸즈에서 아이를 키우고 있는 부모입니다. 더 보기

    뉴욕 공립학교 학부모로서 중국인계 부모 네트워크에서도 활발히 활동하고 계신 선생님은, 중국의 렌민대학교에서 경제학 석사학위를, 또한 캘리포니아의 바이올라 대학교 평생교육원에서 통합상담사자격증을 취득하셨습니다.  CIDA에서는 퀸즈내의 중국 부모님들과 학교기관들사이에서 밀접하게 소통하시면서 부모교육행사, 번역, 1대1 도움 등 다양한 역할을 해주고 계십니다.

    김 지영 박사

    Education Specialist

    김 지영 박사는 특수교육 분야에서 다양한 경험과 지식을 가진 전문가입니다. 한국에서 특수교육을 전공한 후, 특수학교에서 더 보기

    영아부, 유치부, 초등부 교사를 역임했으며, 서울대학교에서 교육공학 (Educational Technology)으로 석사학위를 취득한 후, 미국 텍사스 어스틴 대학교 (UT Austin)에서 특수교육으로 박사학위 (Ph.D.)를 받았습니다. 무엇보다도, 26세의 중증 복합장애 (지적장애, 뇌전증, 뇌성마비)를 가진 아들의 엄마로서, 미국에서 장애아를 키우는 재미 한국인 가정의 어려움이 무엇인지를 이해하고 있습니다. 이러한 경험과 지식이 지역사회를 변화시킬 수 있는 선한 영향력이 되기를 소망하며, 2018년 가을에 CIDA에 합류하게 되었습니다.

    Jamie Lee

    Drama Club – Intern

    Jamie Lee graduated from Hunter College with a degree in Psychology. 더 보기

    During the summer internship program, she hopes to have a positive contribution to her students and the community. In her free time, Jamie loves to draw, dance, and bake.

    Bella Hwang

    Drama Club – Intern

    Bella Hwang is a student at Tufts University studying Classics and Computer Science. 더 보기

    Her goal is to learn more about the obstacles facing individuals with disabilities, to engage with overcoming these obstacles, and ultimately to make the community a better place. Outside of volunteer work, Bella enjoys playing and making video games.

    Devin Bae

    Drama Club – Intern

    Devin Bae is in senior year of his undergraduate term at Cornell University. 더 보기

    He has been closely involved with many of CIDA’s projects over the last few years, and is always looking forward to nudging the community in the right direction. During this summer of the first year of COVID-19, he plans to be involved in many programs that can help those in need due to the virus. He enjoys reading, video games, and anything related to Broadway.

    Joy Chung

    Joy Chung is a mother of 2 children.  She had worked as a part time pharmacist  더 보기

    for over 18 years, but quit to be a full time parent. Volunteering for CIDA was like a sweet treat for her. Children are God’s precious treasures. Thank you!

    Suah Chung

    Suah Chung is a rising junior at Stuyvesant High School and aims to pursue medicine. 더 보기

    She is looking forward to working with CIDA and is very grateful for this learning opportunity. She hopes to gain experience and make a positive impact in her community. In her free time, Suah loves reading, writing short stories, painting and listening to music.

    Daniel Jeon

    Hello, my name is Daniel Jeon and I am currently a student at Stuyvesant High School. 더보기

    What is the one act that everybody loves? Sleep, the most beautiful thing, is my hobby. But, it is somewhat of a perplexing situation, because my other hobby is staying up late. My mentor’s quote resonates with me, “Sleep is for the Weak.” But, should I sleep to intern for CIDA? Of course – therefore, I must sleep.

    Joeun Huh

    Joeun Huh graduated from Tufts university in 2012, majored fine arts and attended 더 보기

    Pratt institute in 2013, majored fine arts for a year, and completed painting certificate program at Art student league of New York in May 2020. Going through the journey with fine arts, it helps to understand self and recognize surrounding by experiences. My husband had mild autism when he was young, and with mother-in-law’s amazing care  with love and education, he grew up to become math teacher. I believe love, care and education always can make miracle.

    Isaac So

    Isaac So is a rising senior at the Bronx High School of Science. 더 보기

    He is working to become an actor, and has joined CIDA so that his interest can work for something that benefits others. During free time, Isaac enjoys watching movies and reading.

    Jenny Kim

    Community Forum – Committee

    Jenny Kim is a rising junior at Stony Brook University majoring in Health Science. 더 보기

    Her hobbies include dancing and baking. During her time volunteering with CIDA, she hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the lives of people with disabilities and their families.

    Joanne Ryu

    Joanne Ryu is a recent graduate from New York University with a degree in Applied 더 보기

    Psychology. She is passionate about strengthening the capacity of children and teens through social support and education. Her goal is to continue working towards a career in psychology that can increase inclusion opportunities to people in need, especially in a school and workplace environment. 

    Erin Park

    Self-Determination Academy

    Erin graduated from Boston University in 2019 with a degree in Special Education, specializing in severe disabilities. 더 보기

    She is currently a teacher for students with disabilities, aged 18-21. She hopes to continue to be a teacher and an advocate for students who are transitioning out of school. She also hopes to one day further her education to learn more about and reform existing policies to bring better opportunities for adults with disabilities. In her free time, she enjoys going on long walks!

    Kate Hwang

    Program Associate

    Kate is a student at St. Francis Prep. She is excited to work with CIDA over the summer to help make 더 보기

    a positive impact in her community. Kate always tries to help with community service and volunteer work. She hopes to have fun and work hard this summer. She loves to play volleyball and hang out with her friends.

    Kevin Chun

    Program Associate

    Kevin Chun is currently a junior in Binghamton University studying Finance. He appreciates learning 더 보기

    about the different aspects and programs that involve people with disabilities and is willing to contribute to spreading awareness as well. His hobbies include playing the piano, watching documentaries, and waking up late.

    Erin Park

    Program Associate

    Erin is currently a rising senior at Boston University, majoring in Severe Special Education. 더 보기

    She is passionate about advocating for students with disabilities, especially as they transition out of the school system. In the future, she hopes to teach students with disabilities at the high school level, and then eventually work within education policy to bring about changes to this unfortunately broken field. In her free time, Erin loves to journal, go on runs, and explore new places, especially restaurants!

    Charlotte Hutzler

    Program Associate

    Charlotte is a student at New York University majoring in Applied Psychology with minors in creative 더 보기

    writing and American Sign Language. She is passionate about mental health advocacy and enjoys working with children and adolescent populations. She loves poetry, social justice, and cooking.

    Lesley Jeon

    Program Assoicate

    Lesley attends New York University and is study Foreign Language Teaching. She is looking forward to 더 보기

    working with CIDA this summer and hopes to make a positive impact in her community. Lesley loves to bike, eat food, and look at pictures of cute dogs and babies

    Maria Gulino

    Head Coder/Program Developer

    Maria attends Johns Hopkins University and studies Computer Science as an undergraduate student. 더 보기

    Ever since her two year adventure to Greece, Maria has loved soccer. She admits to not being the best player, but it doesn’t stop her from having fun! Maria also loves computers, Netflix, and food (food the most of the three).

    Bella Hwang

    Bella Hwang is a high school student studying at the Bergen County Academies with a focus in business. 더 보기

    She is passionate about making a positive impact in her community. In her free time, Bella loves to read, play the piano, listen to new music, and play with her cat, Chorong.
