Celebrate Autism Acceptance: A Month of Coffee, Concerts, and Community!

What’s Up at CIDA

Our Voice at the 2024 Community Preparedness Symposium

CIDA had the privilege of representing our families at this year’s Community Preparedness Symposium, thanks to the New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM). We focused on the special challenges that Asian families with disabilities and non-English-speaking immigrants face during emergencies. Our message was clear: making emergency plans that are inclusive isn’t just a nice idea—it’s absolutely essential.

As CIDA moves forward, we’re excited to deepen our partnership with NYCEM to develop and implement solutions that ensure no one is left behind. Your steadfast support energizes us to continue striving for a world where inclusivity forms the foundation of every plan and policy. Thank you for being with us on this journey towards change.

Autism Awareness Month: Onnuri Sarang Chamber Orchestra Mini-Concert

In celebration of April’s Autism Awareness Month, CIDA is presenting a mini-concert featuring the Onnuri Sarang Chamber Orchestra. This special event will showcase various performances by four members of the Onnuri Sarang Chamber Orchestra visiting from South Korea, along with volunteer teachers who are professional musicians. Embrace the power of music and support a cause close to our hearts.

The Onnuri Love Chamber Orchestra, originating from South Korea in 1999, is a classical ensemble dedicated to performance and celebration. It is composed of individuals with diverse developmental disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, and Down Syndrome. Particularly noteworthy is their collaboration with the acclaimed American cellist, Yo-Yo Ma.
